The Wilkes University wrestling team posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.261, ranking them 15th nationally, proving they are not only successful on the mat, but define the true meaning of student-athlete.

CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS RECEIVE ALL-ACADEMIC AWARD

The men’s and women’s cross country teams were named to the All-Academic Team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently, as over 100 colleges and universities received the award across the nation.

PEACE USES BIG EXTRA INNING TO DOWN LADY COLONELS

NORFOLK, Va. - Peace College broke open a 1-1 tie in the top of the eighth inning with six runs to take a 7-1 win over Wilkes University.

The Wilkes University baseball team played its final games in Myrtle Beach on Sunday against PSU Berks, and after 15 innings of baseball, won the first game 8-4, and lost the second in extra innings, 7-6.

The Wilkes University baseball team had its second day of action in Myrtle Beach on Saturday, taking on SUNY Plattsburgh in a morning single header. After nine close innings of baseball, Wilkes couldn’t put together enough hits in the last frame, falling 3-2.

NCAA WRESTLING UPDATE: PIZARRO ACHIEVES ALL-AMERICAN STATUS, HEFFERNAN COMES UP SHORT

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Senior Zach Pizarro has had a career this year and capped off his final collegiate season by achieving All-American Status after winning a pair of matches in the wrestlebacks at the NCAA Championships. His teammate Frank Heffernan, however, came up short in his quest to be an All-American for the second- straight year.

WRESTLERS READY FOR BIG STAGE

Frank Heffernan and Zach Pizarro will be representing Wilkes University at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships this weekend, both of which are no strangers to the event. Heffernan will be competing in the national tournament for the third-straight year, while Pizarro will be making his second trip to the NCAA’s.
