The Wilkes University football team will be playing their last game at Ralston Field on Saturday, hosting Widener in Middle Atlantic Conference action. Wilkes brings a 5-3 record into the game, while the Pride are 3-5 in the 2009 season.

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Wilkes University volleyball team struggled offensively, garnering 10 kills while committing 20 errors in the semifinal game of the Freedom Conference semifinals. No. 23 Eastern would eventually win the match 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-9) to advance to the conference championship game Saturday.

The Wilkes University men’s soccer team headed to Dallas, Pa. to take on Misericordia on Wednesday, ultimately falling to the Cougars by a score of 3-2 after leading 2-0 at halftime.

The Wilkes University women’s soccer team traveled to Purchase, N.Y. on Tuesday to take on Manhattanville in the first round of the Freedom Conference playoffs. The Lady Colonels came into the game as the number four seed with a regular season record of 7-8-3 (3-2-2), while the Valiants boasted the number one seed and a record of 16-1-1 (7-0).

The Wilkes University men’s soccer team had two players honored by the conference office for their efforts this past weekend. Junior goalkeeper Kaleb Smith received Freedom Conference defender/goalie of the week, while freshman forward Joe Brennan was named the Freedom Player of the week.

Coming off its first conference championship in 34 years, the Wilkes wrestling team wasted little time in starting where it left off last season. The Colonels, ranked No. 18 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Preseason Poll, opened the 2009-10 season with a 33-3 win over Hunter.
