Twenty four members of the Wilkes University athletic department were named to the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation spring Academic Honor Roll as announced by executive director Ken Andrews.

DENGLER NAMED TO ABCA-RAWLINGS MID-ATLANTIC ALL REGION FIRST TEAM; BUCKLER AND GAROFOLI ON SECOND UNIT

Wilkes University catcher Randy Dengler has been named to the Mid-Atlantic All Region first team, while teammates Tom Buckler and Andy Garofoli were slated on the second team for their performances this season.

Five Wilkes University student-athletes were honored by the league office as they were named to the MASCAC Sportsmanship Team in their respective sport. The teams include a player from each school who has demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship through their actions on and off the field during the season.

LATE COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AGAINST WESLEY IN ECAC’S

Wilkes University scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but its late surge fell short as the Colonels fell in the semifinals of the ECAC South Baseball Championship to Wesley 10-9. Their defense was largely to blame as Wilkes committed six errors that led to six unearned runs.

WILKES TO HOST ECAC BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP; RECEIVE TOP SEED

The Wilkes University baseball team will continue its season as the Colonels have received a bid to play in the ECAC South Baseball Championship. Not only will the Colonels be in the post season, but they will be the top seed in the South region and will host the final three games on Friday at Artillery Park.

WILKES WINS “TUNE UP” GAME OVER PSU BERKS BEFORE POSSIBLE ECAC BID

READING – The Wilkes University baseball team snapped a two-game losing skid by taking a 6-4 win over PSU Berks in 10 innings. The contest was the first since last Saturday and served as a tune up as they Colonels are awaiting a possible bid to participate in the ECAC Championships.

FIVE BASEBALL PLAYERS HONORED BY CONFERENCE OFFICE; RUCH ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

The Wilkes University baseball team was well represented on the All-Freedom Conference Baseball Team as three were named to the first team, while two were named to the second. Freshman Matt Ruch, who held one of the nation’s longest hitting streaks, was named the Rookie of the Year in the league.

BOYERTOWN – The Wilkes University baseball team made an early exit in the Freedom Conference Baseball Tournament as they fell to Alvernia 11-0 before dropping a 10-2 decision to Manhattanville in the elimination game.

The Wilkes University baseball team will head to Boyertown as the No. 2 seed in the Freedom Conference Baseball Tournament after finishing with a league record of 11-5 and will take on Alvernia in the opening round at 7:30 tonight.
