Sean Madden isn’t your typical student athlete. The senior from Bishop O’Hara High School in Dunmore Pa, is only one of a handful at Wilkes University who plays two sports while taking 15 credits in an effort to obtain his degree in History.

Wilkes University football players Corey Gilroy, Sean Madden and Gennaro Zangardi have been selected to participate in the NCAA Division III Football Senior Classic in Salem, Va. The Dec. 5 game is hosted by the Collegiate Development Football League and will feature 90 of the nation’s top players from across the country.

John Harrison completed a two-yard touchdown pass with eight seconds to go to fullback Ryan Murray lifting the Diplomats to a 29-24 win over Wilkes University in the ECAC South Atlantic Bowl. The score capped off a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit comeback for Franklin & Marshall.

The Wilkes University football team had six players receive honors in a vote by coaches around the league, as Kevin Gerhart, Jordan D’Emilio, Chris Swinarski, Sean Madden, Nick Genuardi and Andrew Yacina were all either voted to All-Freedom Conference teams or Co-Rookie of the Year.

The Wilkes University football team (6-4, 3-4) took a short trip across town to take on the King’s College Monarchs (3-7, 2-5) on Saturday in search for its seventh consecutive Mayor’s Cup victory. This game was also the last regular season contest for the Colonels as they continue their hunt for an ECAC bid.

A 2001 Northern Lehigh High School graduate, he was a two-time first team all-state football player. Bo was named to ESPNs Academic High School Football All-American team in 2000-2001. In 2001, he was named Most Valuable Male Athlete of Northern Lehigh.

The Wilkes University football team (6-3, 3-3) hosted Widener University (3-6, 1-5) at Ralston Field on Saturday, a day in which 17 senior Colonels were honored and participated in their last home game in a Wilkes uniform. The game began with the Colonels establishing an early lead off of a plethora of Pride mistakes, and ending with Wilkes fending off a potent Widener run game to secure its third victory in a row.
