PONOMA, NJ – The Wilkes University women’s soccer team was outshot 15-2 and allowed four second half goals in a 5-0 loss to Rowan in Ponoma, N.J. on Sunday, making them 1-2 on the season.

POMONA, NJ – The Wilkes University women’s soccer team headed to Pomona, N.J. on Saturday to participate in a tournament at Stockton College. In their first match of the weekend, Wilkes allowed two early second half goals to ultimately fall to the Ospreys, 2-1.

WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes University women’s soccer team hosted Marywood on Wednesday, playing its first game at the newly renovated Ralston Athletic Complex. All the Lady Colonels needed in their first game of the season was one score, as Wilkes shutout the Pacers by a score of 1-0.

2010 WILKES PREVIEW: WOMEN'S SOCCER

The Wilkes University women’s soccer team has plenty to be excited about in 2010, returning 17 players from a team that earned a Freedom Conference playoff bid a season ago. The Lady Colonels went 7-9-3, 3-3-2 in conference play, a year ago, grabbing the fourth seed in the postseason tournament on the last game of the season.

WILKES-BARRE - The Wilkes University women's soccer team will be traveling to Brazil in August, a trip made possible by an extensive fundraising effort. During their visit, players will participate in training sessions, experience Brazil's unique culture, and volunteer their time doing community service.

Wilkes University Men's and Women's Soccer hosted a youth soccer camp this past week. Campers used this daily three hour session to improve upon their skills in dribbling, passing, shooting and other technical areas.

WOMEN’S SOCCER HEADED TO BRAZIL

The Wilkes University Women’s Soccer Team is anxiously anticipating its trip to Brazil in August, 2010. The trip, costing close to $2500 per player, has required a two-year extensive fundraising effort by the team and coaching staff. They have raised close to $14,000 for the trip and continue to work hard to land in São Paulo on August 2.

Sophomores Katy Fissel and Lyndsay Ellis both received additional honors for their 2009 seasons, as weeks after being named All-Freedom Conference performers, the two were recently awarded to the Second and Third Team All-Mid-Atlantic Region.
