WILKES-BARRE - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has named the Wilkes University women's tennis team an All-Academic Team for the seventh consecutive year. The Lady Colonels, whose 3.7 grade point average easily surpassed the qualifying mark of a 3.2 GPA, also placed seven on the ITA Scholar-Athlete list.

The Wilkes University men’s tennis team will be making its third-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament after defeating Manhattanville in the finals of the Freedom Conference Team Championship. Despite losing two-of-three doubles matches, the Colonels came back to win 5-3.

The Wilkes University athletic department had 29 student-athletes make the Middle Atlantic Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll for their performance in the classroom.

The Wilkes University men’s tennis team accomplished a task never done before at Wilkes, defeating Transylvania in the first round of the NCAA Tournament 5-2, and grabbing it’s first ever NCAA Tournament victory.

The men’s and women’s tennis teams are no strangers to the NCAA Tournament as they will be making a combined seventh-straight appearance in the national event. The women’s team will be making its fourth-straight trip, while the men clinched its third post season event.

Due to inclement weather, the men's and women's Freedom Conference Tennis Championship matches have been rescheduled.  The Lady Colonels match against Misericordia will now start at 1:30 p.m. at the Kingston Indoor Facility, while the men's match has yet to be determined.
