Box Score

The Wilkes University men’s soccer team competed in their last regular season game on Saturday, defeating DeSales by a score of 1-0, securing a Freedom Conference Playoff berth.

In the first period the two teams played to a stalemate despite multiple shots on goal. In the second period Wilkes finally broke the tie when sophomore Ed Zulkoski found freshman forward Joe Brennan in the 63rd minute for his fifth score of the season. The Colonels would lock down on defense, and goalie Kaleb Smith would save two shots before the final horn rang and Wilkes secured their place in the playoffs.

Wilkes was out-shot 18-10 on the day and had to defend 10 corner kicks, but Smith had seven saves en route to his fourth shut-out of the season.

The Colonels' first competitor in the playoffs will be determined after tonight's match-up between Misericordia and King's College.
