Tim Lombreglia (Sparta, N.J./Pope John) had a career-game against Christopher Newport and was one of the main reasons why the Colonels left Newport News, Va. with a win, and for his efforts he was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week.
The junior from Sparta, N.J. picked up a career-high 10 tackles as well as two-and-a-half sacks for a loss of 14 yards to lead the Colonel defense. The defensive lineman also intercepted a pass and returned it 38 yards which led to the go-ahead touchdown for Wilkes.
The Colonels are now 3-0 for the first time since the 2006 season and are nine votes from cracking the d3football.com top-25 poll.
Lombreglia becomes the second Wilkes player to be honored by the conference office as
Kevin Gerhart (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) was named the defensive player of the week after the win against Muhlenberg.
