Box Score

The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team headed across town to take on King's on Saturday, ultimately defeating the Monarchs by a score of 18-15.

In the first period Wilkes took a commanding lead early, as goals by Stephanie Harkins (Larksville, Pa./Holy Redeemer), Amelia Farnham (Guilford, CN/Guilford HS), and Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, PA/Dallas) gave the Lady Colonels a quick 6-0 lead. The rest of the half belonged to the Monarchs though, who climbed back into the game and tied up the contest 9-9 at the break.

Wilkes out-shot King's in the first period, but the Monarchs saved twice as many shots as the Lady Colonels.

In the second half Wilkes started off hot once again, scoring the first five goals of the period. King's answered with a few of its own, but the Lady Colonels were able to build a comfortable lead when Erica Sundberg (Mullica Hill, N.J./Kingsway HS) scored back-to-back goals with 18 minutes left to play, giving Wilkes a six goal lead.

The Monarchs were able to score the last three goals of the game, but it was too little too late as the Lady Colonels picked up their third win of the season, defeating King's 18-15.

Farnham finished the game with eight scores, while Harkins added five of her own. Cassie Cronin (Manchester, NH/Manchester Memorial) had an excellent day in the keep, saving 25 shots, 19 of which came in the second period.

With the win the Lady Colonels end their season with a 3-12 (1-11) record.
