HERSHEY, Pa. - Sean Madden (Dunmore, Pa./) shot a first-round 78 to finish in a tie for seventh place and to lead the Colonels to a third-place finish after the first day of the Freedom Conference Championship. Wilkes shot a team-total of 329, just six strokes behind King's, who currently sits in second place.

Manhattanville currently has the overall lead with a 297 and four of the top five finishers in the tournament, including Mike Cresci, who is the leader with a one-over 72.

While Madden shot a 78 for Wilkes, Kaleb Smith (Beavertown/Midd-West) scored an 81 and Robert Hillibush (Mahanoy City/Mahanoy Area) was right behind him with an 84 in the first round. Mike Turano completed his round with an 85, while Brian Williams (Taylor, Pa./) finished with an 87.

The team will continue play tomorrow at the Hershey Country Club East Course.
