GOLF TEAM IN THIRD PLACE AFTER FIRST DAY OF FREEDOM CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

HERSHEY, Pa. - Sean Madden (Dunmore, Pa.) shot a first-round 78 to finish in a tie for seventh place and to lead the Colonels to a third-place finish after the first day of the Freedom Conference Championship. Wilkes shot a team-total of 329, just six strokes behind King's, who currently sits in second place.
Manhattanville currently has the overall lead with a 297 and four of the top five finishers in the tournament, including Mike Cresci, who is the leader with a one-over 72.
While Madden shot a 78 for Wilkes,
Kaleb Smith (Beavertown/Midd-West) scored an 81 and
Robert Hillibush (Mahanoy City/Mahanoy Area) was right behind him with an 84 in the first round. Mike Turano completed his round with an 85, while
Brian Williams (Taylor, Pa.) finished with an 87.
The team will continue play tomorrow at the Hershey Country Club East Course.
