The Wilkes University men's tennis team accomplished a task never done before at Wilkes, defeating Transylvania in the first round of the NCAA Tournament 5-2, and grabbing it's first ever NCAA Tournament victory.

The Colonels didn't come out with a strong start, as only the doubles team of Wes McCollum (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) and Evan Katz (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) picked up a win in double action, 8-6.

In singles play it was a different story, as the Colonels turned up the heat and didn't drop a single match. Wins by Chris Cozzillio (Harrisburg/Trinity), Jeremy Nolt (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia), McCollum and Clarke Freeman (York/Central York) pushed Wilkes right past Transylvania, sealing the 5-2 victory.

With the victory, Wilkes improves to 16-2 overall on the season, and will now face Emory University on Saturday, May 15th. That match will begin at 2:00 p.m.
