(Wilkes-Barre, PA)- Wilkes University head men's basketball coach Jerry Rickrode has announced that Craig Thomas, a standout lead guard at Cardinal McCarrick High School, has made his decision to continue his academic and athletic careers at Wilkes in the fall.

Craig enjoyed an outstanding career for highly regarded Cardinal McCarrick. Referred to as “the general”, he was a key factor in helping the Eagles achieve great success the past two years. As a junior he averaged 5.1 points, 5.5 assists, and 2.7 steals per game for the 20-7 Eagles who were the first team in Greater Middlesex Conference history to win all three division titles (Gold, Blue & White). As a senior his outstanding all-around play was instrumental in leading McCarrick to a 17-11 record and a 2nd straight berth in the NJSIAA South Parochial finals as he averaged 7.1 points, 5.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.1 steals per game. Statistics do not tell the entire story for the future colonel. Craig is known as a relentless on the ball defender as well as an excellent offensive catalyst that is extremely solid in decision making.

As a student, Thomas has been practically flawless. He graduated from Cardinal McCarrick with a perfect 4.0 grade point average and was on the Principal's list every single marking period.
