Warren Ruda Wilkes opens its 2013 season hosting Morrisville State on September 7 at Schmidt Stadium WILKES FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES 2013 SCHEDULE 6/17/2013 10:48:00 AM WILKES FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES 2013 SCHEDULE WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University head coach Frank Sheptock has announced the Colonels schedule for the upcoming 2013 season as Wilkes looks to build on a 5-5 overall mark from a year ago. The Colonels are coming off a 2012 campaign that saw them go 4-5 in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play including wins over both local rivals Misericordia (45-13) in the school's first meeting, and cross-town rival King's (44-32) in the 17th annual Mayor's Cup game. Wilkes will kick off the 2012 campaign on Saturday, September 7 when it hosts Morrisville State College at Schmidt Stadium. The Colonels used three field goals including a go-ahead 18-yarder with 1:25 left in the game to preserve a 9-7 win in upstate New York last year against the Mustangs. With the win Wilkes moved to 9-8 under Sheptock in season openers. Following the lone non-conference tilt on opening weekend, Wilkes begins its nine-game MAC slate on September 14 at Lycoming College (8-2) who posted a 38-7 victory over the Colonels last season. Following Lycoming on September 21, Wilkes hosts defending MAC champion Widener University (11-1) looking for revenge after a difficult loss a year ago in Chester, Pa. Misericordia University (0-10) hosts the Colonels for the first time in the series short history on September 28, as the Cougars enter their second year of existence as a program in the MAC. Wilkes next hosts Lebanon Valley College (6-4) on October 5 during Homecoming weekend. LVC posted a 21-13 win over Wilkes last season in Annville, Pa. in a back-and-forth affair. After a bye week on October 12, the home and away scheduling continues in weeks 6 and 7 as Wilkes travels to ECAC South-East Bowl winner Albright College (8-3) on October 19 and hosts Stevenson University (3-7) on October 26. Following the game against Stevenson, the Colonels will experience a shorter than usual week of preparation traveling to FDU-Florham on Friday, November 1 for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Wilkes concludes its 2013 slate hosting Delaware Valley College (8-3) on November 9 before finishing the regular season at King's (2-8) in the 18th annual Mayor's Cup game on November 16. 2013 WILKES UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL SCHEDULEPrint Friendly Version
