NEW YORK – The Wilkes University wrestling team got back to its winning ways by taking a 30-15 win over Hunter College. The win improves the No. 19 Colonels to 12-5-1 overall.
In the heavyweight division,
Andrew Feldman (Shavertown, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) picked up his first pin of the season, taking down Kaya Gezlev in 1:01. He tallied the only pin of the day for Wilkes, while
Josh Pauling (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) took a 17-7 major decision win over Adam Coleman at 133.
At 125,
Shaun Farnham (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Charles W. Baker) improved to 23-2 for the year with a convincing 9-2 win over Evan Velez, while
Anthony Dattolo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) defeated James Mustakis 15-9.
Erik Smith (Danville, Pa./Danville) joined in the winning ways for Wilkes, shutting out Vitaly Simkin 4-0, while
Frank Heffernan (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) won at 174 via forfeit.
The Colonels will be back in action Tuesday when they host TCNJ at 7 p.m. in the Marts Center.
