Four Wilkes University field hockey players were named to the All-Freedom Conference first team, while another was named to the second as the Lady Colonels had more players honored than any other team in the league.

Senior Amanda Tilley (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh), sophomore Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) and freshmen Cassie and Jenna DiSabatino (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) were named to the first team, while Brittney Sines was named to the second unit. Not only was Jenna named to the first team, but she was also named the Rookie of the Year in a vote by coaches across the league.

Tilley was a catalyst for the Lady Colonel defense that allowed just 31 goals all season. Despite playing in the backfield, Tilley was able to score six goals while dishing out five assists for a total of 17 points which was fifth best on the team while starting all 19 games this season.

While Tilley is making her first appearance on the all-conference team, Davenport is making her second-straight first-team selection. After being named the Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year last season, Davenport followed up that performance by saving 96 shots for a percentage of .756. She allowed just 1.65 goals against this season while collecting three shutouts on the year.

The sister act of Jenna and Cassie DiSabatino (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) were the offensive force for the Lady Colonels this season, combining for 23 goals and 24 assists. Jenna led the league in both goals and assists with 18 and 14 respectively, while Cassie was third in assists with 10. Jenna scored at least one goal in all but three games this season and had two goals against Susquehanna and Alvernia. Cassie, who was second on the team in assists, picked up two in a game twice this season and had five consecutive games in which she picked up an assist.

Sines, who served as team captain, is making her second appearance on the all-conference team, picked up four goals while dishing out four assists from the midfield position. She started all but one game this season and was tied for second on the team in game-winning goals with two.

The Lady Colonels finished the 2009 season with a 15-4 record and made an appearance in the ECAC Championship for the second time in as many seasons. They were ranked as high as 14th in the womensfieldhockey.com poll which is highest in school history and also tabbed as high as sixth regionally, which is also higher than any other field hockey team in Wilkes history.
