The Wilkes University field hockey team recently qualified for a position in the ECAC Championships, and has been matched up against Hartwick in the first round.
The Lady Colonels bring a 15-3 record into the game, while the Hawks are 11-7 in their 2009 season. Wilkes is coming off a heartbreaking loss against King's College in the Freedom Conference Tournament, 2-1 in overtime. Meanwhile, Hartwick is also coming off a loss, falling to Washington and Jefferson 1-0 in the Empire 8 Semifinals in Hocoken, N.J.
The Lady Colonels are led by freshman
Jenna DiSabatino (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood) who has 17 goals and 14 assists in the 2009 season.
Jennifer Keegan (Shohola, Pa./Delaware Valley) has 15 goals for Wilkes, while
Amanda Peters (Catasauqua/Catasauqua) has 12 goals and eight assists. Wilkes is outscoring opponents 70-29 this year, holding them to 10 shots per game while firing over 21.
The Hawks are led by Kelsey Kimble with eight goals and four assists for 20 points on the year. Jen Kaye has seven goals and five assists, while Samantha Galm has five goals for Hartwick. The Hawks are averaging 1.6 goals per contest, and are holding opponents to 1.18 goals per game.
In goal for Wilkes will be sophomore
Lindsey Davenport (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) who has 90 saves and three shutouts on the year. She holds a 1.64 goals against average and a 15-3 record. Mackenzie Chapman will be handling the goalkeeping for the Hawks. She has 92 saves on the season and a 1.21 goals against average. She brings a 10-7 record into the game.
