TWENTY FOUR NAMED TO MASCAC SPRING ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL

Twenty four members of the Wilkes University athletic department were named to the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation spring Academic Honor Roll as announced by executive director Ken Andrews.

Any student-athlete who participated in a varsity level sport and registered a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 (4.0 scale) or higher and completed the playing season in good standing is named to the team. The spring Academic Honor Roll members are selected from sports such as baseball, softball, women's lacrosse, men's and women's tennis as well as golf.

The Lady Colonel softball team had the most represented with eight including the Freedom Conference Player of the Year Gina Stefanelli (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Meyers). Also making the team from the softball squad included Lindsay Behrenshausen (Mt. Holly Springs/Boiling Springs), Kathy Dalton (Neptune, N.J./St. Rose), Kaitlyn Kormanik (Johnstown, Pa./Richland), Colleen Labor (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), Sarah Miller (Wyoming, Pa./Bishop Hoban), Maurenn Pelot and Angeline Urban (Mahanoy City, Pa./Mahanoy Area).

The women's tennis team had five players represented including Lauren Donmoyer (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata), Michelle Knight (Roaming Shores, OH/Trinity), Alison McDonald (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita), Kristin Wilt (Milton, Pa./Milton) and Xiaoqiao Zhang (Zhengzhou City, China/Warren Hills (N.J.)). The men's tennis team was nearly as impressive with four players making the honor roll including Jefferson Bohan (Danville, Pa./Danville), Wes McCollum (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin), Anthony Mirabile (Blue Bell, Pa./Lasalle) and Kyle Ungvarsky (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads).

The Colonel baseball team had four members represented as well including Mike Brennan (New Ringold, Pa./Marian Catholic), Al Clocker (Swoyersville/Wyoming Valley West), Andy Garofoli (Altoona, PA/Bishop Guilfoyle) and Trevin Jaggars (Honesdale, Pa./Honesdale).

The women's lacross team had three players make the squad that included Brittany Hodnik, Shannon McDonald (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) and Amanda Tilley (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh).
