EAST STROUDSBURG - The No. 15 Wilkes University wresting team faced one of its toughest tests of the season thus far in Division II foe East Stroudsburg but came up short as the Warriors edged out the Colonels 19-15.

Scott Mantua (Clarksville, MD/River Hill) gave the Colonels a 3-0 advantage after his 5-3 win over David Luthy at 125. East Stroudsburg quickly took a 9-3 lead after getting a pin at 133 followed by a decision at 141.

At 149, Anthony Dattollo closed the gap to 9-6 when he beat Eddie Stephenson 7-1, but the Colonels were unable to gain momentum as the Warriors won the next two bouts at 157 and 165. Frank Heffernan (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh), ranked No. 10 nationally at 174 took a 4-1 decision over Ken Monarque to make it 15-9 in favor of East Stroudsburg.

The Warriors would win one more match at 184 before No. 9 Zach Pizarro (Easton, Pa./Easton) took a 9-8 win over Ed Ebewo at 197 and Andrew Feldman (Shavertown, Pa./Wyoming Valley West), ranked No. 8 at 285, won his match 11-4 over Will Weaver.

The Colonels moved to 10-2 on the year and will be back in action this weekend when they travel to Collegeville to compete in the North/South Duals.
