REA'S MAJOR DECISION PROPELS NO. 13 WILKES WRESTLING OVER ETOWN, 21-18
 
ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – Freshman Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg)'s major decision at 125-pounds in the final bout of the match propelled visiting Wilkes University to a 21-18 win over Elizabethtown College Friday night in the Thompson Gymnasium.
 
Wilkes improves to 2-3 overall, while Elizabethtown falls to 1-1 on the young season.
 
Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) gave Wilkes an early lead when he grabbed a 12-4 major decision win against Chad Lammer at 133 to start the match. After an Elizabethtown decision win at 141, Kris Krawchuk (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) continued his fine wrestling with a 14-0 blanking of Michael Lammer to give Wilkes an 8-3 lead after three bouts.
 
Mason McIntyre (Bethlehem, PA/Easton) claimed an injury decision at 157 to push the Wilkes advantage to 14-3 with six bouts remaining. Woodie Hermann (4-1 decision over Nathan White (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill)) and Julian Meaney (3-1 decision over Dustin Stough (Friendsville, MD/Northern Garrett)) kept the Blue Jays at pace only trailing 14-9 after six bouts.
 
From there Eric Bach (Newton, NJ/Kittatiny) earned a hard-fought 2-1 decision at 184-pounds followed by an Elizabethtown pin at 197 as Wilkes held on to a slim 17-15 lead with two bouts left.
 
Etown's Jeremy Rieth gave the Blue Jays their first lead of the night, 18-17, with a 3-1 decision at heavyweight setting up the 125-pound bout for Rea.
 
The rookie dominated his bout scoring a 19-5 major decision to propel the Colonels to a 21-18 victory.
 
Wilkes will return to the mat tomorrow when the Colonels travel to East Stroudsburg, Pa. to compete in the ESU Open at 9:00 a.m.
