NO. 19 WILKES WRESTLING EARNS 27-10 WIN AT NO. 30 TCNJ

EWING, NJ – The No. 19 Wilkes University wrestling team earned its eleventh straight dual match victory posting a 27-10 win at No. 30 TCNJ Friday night at Packer Hall.

Wilkes moves to 15-3 overall on the season following its eleventh straight win. The Lions drop to 11-6 on the year.

The Colonels continued their dominant run in dual matches using four major decisions and a pin on way to the victory. Michael Fleck (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) opened things with a 11-3 major decision over Joey DiCarlo claiming his 28th win in the process. Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) added to the Wilkes lead with a 4-2 decision over PJ Schmidt as the Colonels led 7-0 after two bouts.

After TCNJ took a decision win at 141-pounds, Anthony Dattolo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) extended the Wilkes advantage with a major decision win (10-1) over Chris Lombardi, his 104th career victory. Nathan White (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) earned a 4-0 decision win at 165 followed by another major decision from Dustin Stough (Friendsville, MD/Northern Garrett) at 174 as Wilkes led 19-6 with three bouts remaining.

Dave Oberrender (Freeland, PA/Hazleton) grabbed a 6-2 decision at 197 and William Fletcher (Ottsville, PA/Palisades) shut the door on any type of Lions comeback when the sophomore pinned Michael Larcamp in 4:42 at 285.

Wilkes will be idle until Friday when the Colonels return to the Marts Center to host No. 5 Ithaca College in a nationally ranked matchup at 7:00 p.m.
