The loss sends the Colonels to 9-7-1 (2-3-1) while the Valiants improve to 4-10-2 (1-4-1). The Valiants scored the first goal of the game on a penalty kick at the 9:00 minute mark and scored a second goal 2:39 later, to put them up 2-0. Tyler Young (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) brought Wilkes back within one when he scored a header off of a Nicholas Patricia (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) corner kick serve in the 25th minute. With the lead down to one the Valiants added a third goal in the 31st minute. Manhattanville scored three goals on four total shots in the half. Wilkes had eight shots and six corners while Manhattanville had zero corners. Michael Turner (Hudson, PA/Coughlin) cut the Valiants lead to one when he scored in the 67th minute off of a Ryan Joyce (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood) diagonal ball. At 3-2 the Colonels continued to press for the tying goal, but their efforts came up short as the Valiants held on for the victory. For the game Wilkes outshot Manhattanville 14-7 and had 13 corners compared to six for the Valiants. Wilkes returns to the pitch on Saturday when they travel to Misericordia University in Dallas, Pa. for their final regular season match of the year.
