JANNUZZI SELECTED TO MAC ALL-CENTURY TEAM
ANNVILLE, PA -- David Jannuzzi, a 2001 Wilkes graduate, was selected to the Middle Atlantic Conference All-Century Team, the MAC conference released Monday afternoon. A four-year standout, Jannuzzi was noted as one of the best basketball players in the MAC during his era (1994-2003).
Jannuzzi, one of the most decorated men's basketball players in Wilkes history, is in the top ten in over 35 different categories. He rewrote the school record books during his four-year career being named the Jostens Division III and ECAC Player of the Year as a senior. He stands as the school's all-time scoring leader with 2,132 points in a school record 116 career games. His 728 made field goals and 251 made three-point field goals both rank first in school history. His 18.9 career point per-game mark sits third all-time while he ranks top ten all-time in free throws made, free throw percentage, assists, and steals.
Jannuzzi, a four-time All-Freedom selection, was also named MAC Rookie of the Year, a three-time Freedom Conference Player of the Year, a three-time NABC All-Mid Atlantic Region selection, and a two-time NABC All-American honoree.
He helped lead the Colonels to a 94-18 mark over his four years, helping Wilkes to two MAC championships and one Freedom Championship. During his sophomore season, Wilkes finished 26-5 and earned a spot in the Division III Final Four. A year later, the Colonels went 25-4 claiming their second straight conference title and a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16. His senior season, Jannuzzi led his squad to a 23-3 overall record and a spot in the NCAA second round.
As a part of the MAC 100 celebration, the Middle Atlantic Conference will recognize top athletes from conference history, naming student-athletes to century teams in each sport from each era. Eras were delineated based on conference membership and sport sponsorship. The number of individuals selected per team varies depending upon the nature of the sport. Century Teams were selected from an online fan vote combined with the MAC Sports Information Directors vote.
