Wilkes Men's Tennis Makes it Eight Straight Freedom Championships with 5-0 Win over King's

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team captured its eighth straight Freedom Conference Championship posting a 5-0 victory over King's College Saturday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.

Wilkes improves to and will await word on its destiny for the NCAA National Tournament on Monday afternoon.

The Colonels cruised through doubles play leading 3-0 after wins from pairs No. 1 Jacob Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) and Dominic Parfianowicz (Elmira, NY/Elmira Free Academy) (8-2), No. 2 Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) and Brendon Blachowski (Newtown, PA /Council Rock North) (8-0) and No. 3 Max Appello (Sparta, NJ/Sparta) and Michael Kranz (Depew, NY/Lancaster Central) (8-1).

Tournament MVP Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) then took his singles match at No. 5 in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 before D. Parfianowicz clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 4.
