No. 24 Wilkes Wrestling Cruises to 36-9 Win Over Centenary
WILKES-BARRE – Host No. 24 Wilkes University scored wins in eight of ten bouts on way to a 36-9 victory over Centenary College Monday night at the Marts Center.
Wilkes improves to 9-2 overall and extends its dual match win streak to nine dating back to mid-November. Centenary falls to 0-7 overall on the year following the dual match defeat.
Michael Fleck (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) began the match cruising to a 17-0 technical fall over Joey Zargo at 125 as Wilkes led 5-0.
Samuel Mass (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) pushed the lead to 8-0 following a 6-1 decision win over Christian Sable at 133. After a Centenary forfeit at 141,
Josh Evans (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton) earned a 5-2 decision at 149 as the Colonels extended the advantage to 17-0 through four bouts.
Nicholas Racanelli (West Creek, NJ/Southern Regional) kept the shutout in tact posting a 14-1 major decision over Allan Jordan at 157 as Wilkes led 21-0 halfway through the match. Centenary finally got on the board taking a 2-1 hard fought decision at 165 as
Matthew Judge (Eynon, PA/Valley View) fell to Anthony Kubish.
Kyle Diesel (Westtown, NY/Minisink Valley) rounded out the victory with a pin in 2:59 and
Nicholas Dawson (Montoursville, PA/Montoursville) earned a 3-2 decision at 197 before another Centenary forfeit at 285 closed out the match.
Wilkes travels to Fort Wayne, Indiana for the NWCA National Duals Friday and Saturday.
