Wilkes Men's Tennis Cruises into MAC Freedom Finals with 5-0 Win Over Misericordia
KINGSTON, PA – The Wilkes University men's tennis team continued its dominance in the MAC Freedom cruising to a 5-0 victory over the fourth seed Misericordia University in a semifinal match Wednesday afternoon at the Kingston Tennis Club.
Wilkes improves to 21-2 overall on the season and advances to its ninth straight MAC Freedom title match. The 21 wins are also a program record for wins in a season.
Wilkes went 3-0 in doubles matches before
Brian Murray (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein) and
Adam Lefkandinos (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) clinched the decision with wins in singles play. Murray went 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6 before Lefkandinos sealed the victory with a 6-0, 6-0 straight set win.
Wilkes will host the winner of FDU-Florham/King's in the MAC Freedom Championship match Saturday at the Ralston Athletic Complex. Time of the match will be posted later in the week.
