Wilkes Women's Lacrosse Falls in MAC Freedom Semifinals at Misericordia 17-5
DALLAS – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team travelled to nearby Misericordia University for the semifinals of the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom tournament, but the Lady Colonels were defeated 17-5 on Wednesday afternoon.
Wilkes ends its season at 12-5 overall.
The game got off to a slow start, with Misericordia scoring the first two goals through the first 15 minutes.
Senior
Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) got the Lady Colonels on the board in the 16
th minute with an assist from senior
Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy). Sophomore
Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) tied the game in the 19
th minute unassisted.
The Cougars scored four more goals before Brownsey put in her first tally with an assist from senior
Melanie Rivera (Middletown, NY/Middletown) in the 25
th minute to make the score 6-3.
Misericordia outscored Wilkes 10-2 in the second half to put the game out of reach, with the lone Lady Colonel goals coming from Held in the 38
th minute and Brownsey in the 51
st minute with an assist from Held.
Brownsey and Held both paced Wilkes with two goals and one assist.
Freshman
Tabitha Gravius (Howell, NJ/Manalapan) made 15 saves in the game.
