DALLAS – The Wilkes University women's lacrosse team travelled to nearby Misericordia University for the semifinals of the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom tournament, but the Lady Colonels were defeated 17-5 on Wednesday afternoon.

Wilkes ends its season at 12-5 overall.

The game got off to a slow start, with Misericordia scoring the first two goals through the first 15 minutes.

Senior Tori Kerr (Beacon, NY/Beacon) got the Lady Colonels on the board in the 16^th minute with an assist from senior Madeleine Brownsey (Glenside, PA/St. Basil Academy). Sophomore Jessyca Held (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) tied the game in the 19^th minute unassisted.

The Cougars scored four more goals before Brownsey put in her first tally with an assist from senior Melanie Rivera (Middletown, NY/Middletown) in the 25^th minute to make the score 6-3.
Misericordia outscored Wilkes 10-2 in the second half to put the game out of reach, with the lone Lady Colonel goals coming from Held in the 38^th minute and Brownsey in the 51^st minute with an assist from Held.

Brownsey and Held both paced Wilkes with two goals and one assist.

Freshman Tabitha Gravius (Howell, NJ/Manalapan) made 15 saves in the game.
