Wilkes Softball's MAC Freedom Tournament Run Ends with 5-0 Loss to Misericordia
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Wilkes University softball team saw its season end with a 5-0 loss to Misericordia in the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Colonels finish their season 24-16 overall.
Misericordia got on the board in the top of the first with one run on one hit and one error.
Wilkes threatened in the bottom of the fourth with runners on second and third and one out but were unable to bring home the run.
The Cougars broke the game open in the top of the seventh on a grand slam, pushing the lead to 5-0.
Celine Podlesney (Hazle Twp., PA/Hazleton) fell to 9-8 overall, surrendering one run (zero earned) on three hits with one walk and one strikeout over 3.1 innings.
Christina Gambino (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) finished 2-for-3 while
Kaliyah Moore (South Williamsport, PA/Williamsport),
Sarah Gibson (Chico, CA/Pleasant Valley), and
Gracen Staunton (Kernersville, NC/Northwest Guilford) each finished with one hit.
