EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University women's tennis team will get the opportunity to defend its MAC Freedom title after posting a 5-0 sweep over Misericordia University Tuesday afternoon in the semifinals of the 2018 MAC Freedom Tournament at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
 
With the win Wilkes improved to 14-3 overall and will make its 12^th straight appearance in the championship match.
 
Wilkes went 3-0 after doubles play with wins of 8-1, 8-1 and 8-3 in No. 1 through No. 3 pairs respectively.
 
Laura Zielinski (Mt. Wolf, PA/Northeastern) opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 before Jordan Vasarkovy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1.
 
Wilkes will now host No. 2 seed FDU-Florham in the MAC Freedom title match on Saturday at the Ralston Athletic Complex. Match time will be announced later in the week.
