Wilkes Men's Tennis Cruises to MAC Freedom Title Match with 5-0 Win Over DeSales
EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men's tennis team will have the opportunity to defend its MAC Freedom championship after posting a 5-0 sweep of DeSales University in the semifinals Wednesday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
Wilkes improved to 19-5 overall and stretched its match win streak to four in the process.
The Colonels raced out to a 3-0 lead after taking all three doubles flights by scores of 8-2, 8-5 and 8-4.
Andrew Neidig (Matamoras, PA/Delaware Valley) then opened singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 before
Jonathan White (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-0 straight set winner at No. 3.
Wilkes will host cross-town rival King's College for the MAC Freedom title on Saturday at the Ralston Athletic Complex at a time to be announced.
