WILKES-BARRE - The Wilkes University women's basketball team hosted its 4th Annual High School Play Day Tournament this past Saturday, July 31 at the Recreation and Athletic Center (RAC) inside the University Center.

Kendall Hinze and Whitney Connolly, who play for the Wilkes University basketball teams, were named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Winter Sportsmanship Teams for their conduct both on and off the court.

The Wilkes University women’s basketball team shot 31 percent from the field and turned the ball over 28 times en route to a 72-55 loss to Delaware Valley on Saturday. The defeat marks the eighth loss in a row for the Lady Colonels, who are now 3-19 (1-10) on the season.

The Wilkes University men’s and women’s basketball games that had been scheduled for February 11th at Eastern have once again been moved due to inclement weather. Those games will now be played next Thursday, February 18 in St. David’s, Pa. The women’s game will start at 6:00 p.m., while the men’s game will begin at approximately 8:00 p.m.

The Wilkes University women’s basketball team shot only 28.6 percent from the field and was out-rebounded 55-29 on Saturday, falling to Manhattanville 79-47. The Lady Colonels started the contest on the right track, but the interior play of the Valiants was too much for Wilkes, who fell to 1-9 in conference play with the loss.
